ith-red-blue-green-vitriol-workshop-58">Metal Tannate Ink with Red\, Blue
&amp\; Green Vitriol Workshop</a>\nAbout the Workshop Metal–tannate inks
are a group of writing materials formed through the interaction of tannin
s and metal salts. In Persian manuscript traditions\, variations of metal
–tannate ink particularly those using red\, blue\, and green vitriol wer
e among the most commonly used inks\, valued for their tonal depth and wri
ting qualities. This workshop introduces participants to metal–tannate i
nk as a variation of iron-gall ink\, situating the practice within its his
torical\, regional\, and material context before moving into hands-on maki
ng. The Learning Experience The session begins with a guided introduction
and live demonstration of the metal–tannate ink–making process\, expla
ining the role and interaction of gallnuts\, red vitriol\, blue vitriol\,
and green vitriol. Participants will then prepare their own ink using trad
itional methods\, working at a measured pace that allows for observation\,
questions\, and experimentation. Emphasis is placed on understanding mate
rial behavior\, metal–tannin interaction\, and proportion rather than sp
eed or perfection. No prior experience is required. What You Will Make and
Take Home Each participant will produce a small batch of metal tannate in
k during the workshop. Time permitting\, participants may also test their
ink on paper to observe tone\, flow\, and variation. Participants will tak
e home the ink they have made during the session. Ingredients Gallnuts.Red
  Vitriol.Blue Vitriol.Green Vitriol.
