p-60">Persian Ink Workshop</a>\nAbout the Workshop Persian ink refers to a
class of writing inks historically used across the Persian Empire\, combi
ning elements found in both carbon-based and iron-gall inks. These formula
tions were valued for their balance of density\, flow\, and durability\, a
nd were widely used in manuscript production\, calligraphy\, and scholarly
writing. This workshop introduces participants to the materials and propo
rtional logic behind Persian ink\, situating the practice within its histo
rical and regional context before moving into hands-on making. The Learnin
g Experience The session begins with a guided introduction and live demons
tration of the Persian ink–making process\, explaining the role and inte
raction of lampblack\, gallnuts\, green vitriol\, and gum Arabic. Particip
ants will then prepare their own ink using traditional methods\, working a
t a measured pace that allows for observation\, questions\, and experiment
ation. Emphasis is placed on understanding proportion\, material interacti
on\, and technique rather than speed or replication. No prior experience i
s required. What You Will Make and Take Home Each participant will produce
a small batch of Persian ink during the workshop. Time permitting\, parti
cipants may also test their ink on paper to observe its flow\, tonal quali
ty\, and writing behavior. Participants will take home the ink they have m
ade during the session. Ingredients Lampblack.Green Vitriol.Gallnuts.Gum A
