About the Workshop
Rorschach ink blots are best known as visual tools that invite interpretation, reflection, and open-ended response. Beyond their psychological associations, ink blots offer a powerful way to explore symmetry, chance, and material behavior through ink and paper.

This workshop introduces participants to the historical and conceptual background of Rorschach ink blots, situating the practice within visual culture and experimental mark-making before moving into hands-on creation.

The Learning Experience
The session begins with a short lecture introducing the origins and context of Rorschach ink blots, followed by the preparation of carbon ink made from scratch. A demonstration will then show how ink blots are created through folding, pressure, and controlled release.

Participants will create multiple ink blots using the carbon ink they have made, along with other inks and dyes provided. The process encourages experimentation, observation, and reflection rather than interpretation or assessment.

What You Will Make and Take Home

Each participant will produce a series of Rorschach-style ink blots during the workshop. Participants will take home their ink blots and any ink created during the session.
