About the Workshop
This workshop introduces children to the basics of paper dyeing using simple, plant-based materials. Through guided explanation and demonstration, participants learn how natural sources can produce color and how dyes interact with paper surfaces.
The workshop is designed to encourage curiosity, observation, and hands-on exploration while introducing children to material-based creative processes in an accessible and engaging way.
The Learning Experience
The session begins with a short, age-appropriate introduction to different types of paper dyes, followed by a live demonstration of how one plant-based dye is prepared. Children will then make their own dye using the materials provided, with guidance throughout the process.
Emphasis is placed on exploration, sensory experience, and safe handling of materials rather than technical precision. No prior experience is required.
What You Will Make and Take Home
Each participant will prepare a small batch of plant-based dye and use it to color paper during the workshop. Children will take home their dyed paper and any remaining dye created during the session.
